ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - People across Southwest Virginia will work to fight crime Tuesday by attending National Night Out events.
The events rallies neighborhoods and sends a message to criminals that people are on the lookout.

At the events, community members are able to interact with police officers in a laid-back setting. The hope is that interaction helps build relationships which could lead to more community involvement, a key part of fighting crime.
