60-year-old man dies during head-on collision in Franklin Co.

FRANKLIN COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A 60-year-old Roanoke man died when his truck crossed the center line of Route 40 and hit another car head-on Monday evening.

Virginia State Police said the crash happened at 6:25 p.m. on Route 40, less than a mile east of Route 834 in Franklin County.

VSP said 60-year-old Clarence Hylton was driving a 1992 Ford F-150 westbound on Route 40 when it crossed the center line and struck a 2005 Honda Accord head-on. Hylton was not wearing his seat belt and died at the scene.

The 2005 Honda Accord was driven by 35-year-old Keith Butler of Union Hall. Butler was wearing his seat belt and was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
