ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The 10 Cares Back-to-School Supply Drive is underway, but this weekend WSLS 10 hopes you'll help us pack a bus.

All of the donated supplies will be given to the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Virginia. Club leaders will stock each student's backpack with classroom essentials.

They say this really takes the pressure off of parents, who often worry about providing housing and other essentials for their children.

"We're going to have a big celebration and fill all of their backpacks and make sure they have all of the great things that they need, so it's just a wonderful thing. It's a really nice way for people to reach out and make a difference in the lives our kids here," said Laurie Gibbons, Boys and Girls Club, Executive Director.

If you would like to donate to the 10 Cares back to school supply drive you can do so now inside Tanglewood Mall.

On Friday, Mountain Valley Transportation will stage a bus in the mall parking lot for you to help fill.

The dates for the drive are below and the busses will be ready for supplies 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily:

  • Friday, August 7
  • Saturday, August 8
  • Sunday, August 9

And the first day of the drive - Friday - marks the first day of the Virginia "No Sales Tax Weekend."
