Star safety and all-around athlete Traveon Redd chooses Wake forest over Vanderbilt, Maryland, NC State and others.

Redd has started for the Defending 3A state champs since he was a freshman. The rising senior safety--showed his versatility during the state title run by filling in at quarterback after an injury sidelined the Warriors starter.

Redd is happy to get the decision out of the way so he can focus on his senior season--and his schoolwork. He's graduating early--in December--and is an excellent student.

"I decided July 31 long before I actually start narrowing it down so I knew that gave me enough time to actually thinking about the pros and cons and that's what I've been doing this whole week I sat down I prayed and it came to me without wake forest was the best place for me," said Redd.

"After his sophomore year---last year he really had another great year and then in the playoffs we had to put him at quarterback and he just stepped up and and played great on both sides of the ball he caused a fumble in every playoff game we had," explains Head Magna Vista Coach Joe Favero.

Redd joins former Warriors Jerome Preston (VT), George Seals (UVA), Rodney Redd (NC State), Kory Robertson (VT) and  Erik Vint (Marshall) as players moving on to the Division I college level.

The Warriors open their season on August 28th at Dan River.
