God's Pit Crew gets major boost toward Blessing Buckets from NRV woman, Home Depot

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - A non-profit group making a difference for people affected by disasters is getting a big boost to its efforts from a woman from the New River Valley.

God's Pit Crew's (GPC) plea for donations toward its blessing bucket campaign gave Christine Snyder an idea, so she went to her employer – Home Depot – for some help. And managers jumped on board in a big way.

Home Depot donated 260 5-gallon buckets to fill with items like food, personal grooming items and flashlights, toilet paper, rubbing alcohol and Bibles.

Blessing buckets are handed out to those in need, including victims of natural disasters. GPC said it emptied its warehouse – once full of the buckets – after providing relief for victims of an earthquake in Nepal and flooding in Texas.

Christine said she is all too familiar with feeling the need for help Decades ago, she said she found herself with a baby to feed and without a home.

"That's why i want to be able to help other people to make it through these tragedies. I know what a tragedy it was myself and it's been 35 years. And I still remember it, like it was today."
