RUSTBURG, Va. (AP) - A Rustburg man will serve 30 years in prison for stabbing his wife multiple times while her three young children were in the home.

Deputy Commonweath's Attorney Brooke Willse-Gaddy says the stabbing occurred in July 2014 at the home of his wife, Bryce Harper.

The prosecutor says Bryce Harper had a protective order against her husband, when he unexpectedly arrived and started cutting her.

The victim escaped and was helped by several people who saw her along the road.

Willse-Gaddy says the plea agreement, which was approved by the victim, meant the children did not have to go through the trauma of testifying in court.
