BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - Virginia Tech researchers are celebrating a breakthrough in their study of cancer.
One biology professor and her students created a team of international scientists to learn more about how tumors form and progress. They found that individual tumors could be more unique than once realized.

The team is hopeful that finding will lead to earlier detection, and eventually, more individualized and effective treatment.
The next step for the team is to learn more about how different cells impact the growth of tumors, and they say they are looking forward to the possibilities this research could hold for the future.
