Roanoke City Mayor David Bowers and City manager Chris Morill, along with other local officials, cut the ribbon to welcome the new addition to the City.

Now that this nearly $1 million section is complete, only one section of the greenway is left to bridge the gap to the entire 11 mile trail.

After the ceremony, several greenway enthusiasts took the opportunity to be one of the first on the new trail.

The total 11-mile project will be complete in 2017.
