Roanoke man charged with killing toddler indicted on first degree murder charge

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A man charged with shooting a mother and her 1-year-old daughter in Roanoke was indicted on multiple charges, including first degree murder, Monday.

25-year-old Warner Lovings Hunter III was held without bond in the Roanoke City Jail after being arraigned in court in July. He was indicted on six charges Monday related to the shooting of a mother and her daughter, who died from her injuries.

Hunter was indicted in Roanoke City General District Court on one count of first degree murder, one count of attempted first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a murder, aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of aggravated malicious wounding.

Police said Hunter fired multiple shots at 26-year-old Rachael Quesenberry and her daughter, 1-year-old Aryah Leigh Lipford, who died from her injuries in the hospital last Thursday.

According to Quesenberry's family, she was recovering at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital from several gun shot wounds. The shooting happened in front of Hunter's home on Oakland Boulevard in the northwest section of Roanoke.
