Body Camp Elementary School parents to fight closure in court

BEDFORD (WSLS 10) – A group of parents will appear in Federal Court Thursday, fighting to keep Body Camp Elementary School open.

The group has filed a lawsuit against the Bedford County School Board, claiming that race played a role in the board’s decision to close Body Camp.

Thursday’s hearing will be focused on a motion for a temporary injunction.

If approved by a judge, the temporary injunction would keep the school open while the case makes its way through the court system.

The hearing is taking place in Lynchburg. It begins at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
