(WSLS 10) - Changes are coming to Sweet Briar College on Thursday. As part of the agreement between the college and non-profit group Saving Sweet Briar, at least 13 current members of the Board of Directors will resign their positions just before 5 p.m. Then, the remaining board as well as at least 18 new members, appointed by Saving Sweet Briar will meet to appoint Phillip Stone as the new president of the College. Saving Sweet Briar delivered $5 million in contributions to the college on Tuesday which is twice the amount it was required to make according to the agreement. Additional payments of $3.5 million are due in early August and September.

Hot air balloons will begin filling the sky over Lexington Thursday as the annual Balloon Rally kicks off. For Friday there will also be food vendors and entertainment as well as a hot air balloon glow. On Saturday, there's an antique car show, tethered balloon rides and fireworks. This family friendly event takes place on the Parade Ground at Virginia Military Institute.

The Fresh Air Fund's Greater Lynchburg Committee welcomes a group of kids from New York City on Thursday. The program gives the kids a chance to get out of the city and enjoy a couple of weeks of their summer in the fresh air in a smaller community. The Fresh Air Fund is a non-profit agency that has provided this opportunity for nearly two million New York kids from low income communities since 1877.

Take the kids to the Christiansburg Farmers' Market for a Big Truck Event. Kids of all ages will get the chance to see, touch and explore the large equipment and talk to the people that work on those trucks. The Community Health Center of the New River Valley will also be there with interactive games and information for children and adults. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
