ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Business owners from the now-closed Happy's Flea Market said they plan to open a new shop on Williamson Road.

The president of the Williamson Road Area Business Association said it's a win for the owner and other businesses in the area.

After the market's closure, some business owners were selling merchandise from their vehicles outside the Happy's building while others searched for new locations.

The owner of The Basement Toys and Comics, Buddy Montgomery, said he plans to move another location on Williamson Road.

"We'll get through it. We're looking at this from a positive perspective. We've been doing this a few years and now this gives us an opportunity for longevity for the long haul," Montgomery said.

He expects to lose $15,000- $20,000, but said being in a stable building that will hold his merchandise, along with dreams of a future arcade, makes him optimistic.

President of the Williamson Road Area Business Association, Wendy Jones said the situation is unfortunate for business owners, but will benefit the area in the long run by filling some empty spaces along the road.

"Other people can come across the road and while I'm here I see this business and I need their services as well, so business starts to feed off business and that's a great thing, great economic boost," Jones said.

The Basement Toys and Comics is expected to open at the end of summer.
