Former Virginia Tech diver to compete at Pan-American Games

CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - A former Virginia Tech diver will shed his maroon and orange for red, white and blue as he prepares to compete at the international level.

Ryan Hawkins will soon leave for Toronto to represent the U.S. in the Pan American Games.

This is the third largest international sports competition, behind the summer Olympics and the Asian Games. There will be more than 6,000 athletes from 41 countries.

Hawkins was an ACC champion and multi-time All-American during his time at Virginia Tech.

Hawkins says his goal is to represent the U.S. again at the 2016 Olympics.
