RADFORD (WSLS 10) - More than a dozen Radford University students and faculty recently returned home after a three-week research trip to the Peruvian Amazon jungle.

The team traveled mud roads and rivers to get deep into the rain forest. They focused on the effects that certain mining and deforestation practices are having on wildlife. They had no electricity on the trip, and did all their evening research by candlelight.

The researchers say it is important to get the word out everywhere about the importance of conservation.

Many on the team say this is just the beginning of their research, and they hope to return again next year.
