Jason Ferguson with Botetourt County Fire-EMS said the head-on collision happened around 12:43 Tuesday afternoon in the 14000 block of Botetourt Road/Route 220 - a narrow, two-lane stretch of road.

VSP said Brandt was driving a 1992 Mazda Protégé south on Route 220 when a northbound 2000 Ford Mustang crossed the center line and hit Brandt head-on. The Ford was driven by 27-year-old Kelly Ann Peters of Millboro. She was wearing her seat belt and was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Lifeguard 10.

Virginia State Police Accident Reconstruction Team was called to assist. The crash remains under investigation and charges were pending.
