Vehicle involved in Tennessee Amber Alert found in Grayson County

GRAYSON COUNTY, Va. (WSLS 10) - Ā The vehicle involved with the abduction of Hayleigh Cheyenne Wilson, 14, of Surgoinsville, Tennessee was found abandoned in the Troutdale area of Grayson County Thursday night, according to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the vehicle was located at 9:30 p.m. Thursday off of Fairwood Road near the Jefferson National Forest and the Appalachian Trail.

A thorough search of the area was underway when investigators learned that the vehicle was abandoned on Tuesday, June 23. Investigators also learned that both 41-year-old Benjamin Shook and 14-year-old Hayleigh Wilson caught a ride to the Sugar Grove area of Smyth County.

TheĀ Grayson County Sheriff's Office was able to obtain a search warrant for the vehicle.Ā  The vehicle and its contents were turned over to the United States Marshall Service.

The search for Hayleigh Wilson and Shook will continue until they are located.

Anyone who observes subjects matching their descriptions are asked to contact authorities as soon as possible.

The Grayson County Sheriff's Office, Smyth County Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police and the United States Marshalls Service were involved with the search Thursday night and through the early morning hours of Friday, June 26.
