ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Hundreds will travel to the  Star City Thursday to rally for voting rights. Organizers say voter discrimination is still an issue around the country.

The event comes exactly two years after the Supreme Court struck Section Four of the Voting Rights Act, which required certain states to pre-clear their voting rule changes with the federal government.

The power to restore Section Four now lies with Congress.

The event is being held in Roanoke to draw the attention of Congressman Bob Goodlatte, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee. People will travel from as far away as Washington, D.C. and North Carolina for Thursday's event.

The rally will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood Park.
