ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) -  Roanoke County's newest Chick-fil-A restaurant opened its doors Thursday to the community.

Organizers said the Bonsack restaurant brought in 80 new jobs and also gave folks the opportunity to donate children books that will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Roanoke Valley.

The first 100 adults in line at the grand opening at 6 a.m. won free Chick-fil-A meals for a year. Officials say Chick-fil-A's "First 100" celebration continues to be the chain's signature grand opening event, which transformed the restaurant parking lot into a 24-hour community-friendly party as the crowd awaited the opening.

More than $32,000 in free food was awarded. Officials say a digital offer card was loaded with a one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A meals (52 meals with each consisting of a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, medium Waffle Potato Fries and a medium drink)

The Bonsack Chick-fil-A collected new children's books from 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 25. They say the books will be placed in a nearly three-foot Book House to serve as a free library exchange – allowing anyone to take a book after replacing it with one of their own.

The Bonsack location will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., serving a full breakfast menu until 10:30 a.m. Like all Chick-fil-A restaurants, it will be closed on Sunday.
