BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) – The septic system at Moneta Elementary School was repaired after the school was being considered for closure just one year ago.

The septic system cost $278,000 to fix and is now connected to the Bedford Regional Water Authority’s public system. Construction began at the end of January and the overall project came in $100,000 less than originally anticipated.

In May, 2014, the school board toured Moneta and Body Camp Elementary schools. It ultimately chose to close Body Camp. The board looked at classrooms, gymnasiums, sewer systems, and much more to help prepare for the decision to close one of the schools.
