BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - Where the Holiday Inn used to be in Blacksburg, there is now mounds of dirt and construction.
Crews are preparing for a brand new development called University Crossroads. It will be a mixed use space of retail shops, restaurants and hotels.

Crews will also add a new stoplight in anticipation of increased traffic.
The two hotels will be an Extended Stay Residence Inn and a Hyatt Place. CVS pharmacy has also committed to occupy one of the retail buildings.
There will be two more buildings going up for shops and restaurants, and developers are still in negotiations to get those filled. They are investing an estimated $80 million into this project.
The retail shops are expected to begin opening in the spring of 2016. The first hotel is scheduled to open in the winter of 2016, and the second hotel in the spring of 2017.
