OAK ISLAND, N.C. (WNCN) – Frantic 911 calls released Monday morning provided gory details about two separate shark attacks that occurred Sunday on North Carolina's coast.

The first attack, involving a 12-year-old girl, occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday in Oak Island, about 25 miles southwest of Wilmington.

"We have somebody…shark, a shark attack," a caller tells a 911 operator Sunday.

A witness, who then took over the phone call with 911 told the dispatcher that the "family is in too much shock" and provided details about the incident.

"There's a girl whose hand has been bitten off. We need an ambulance right away."

The 911 operator asks the caller if any of the fingers are completely amputated.
