LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS) - The VHSL state tournament is familiar territory for senior Thomas Ducker.  With a 2014 championship in the books, Ducker returned to Liberty University to again compete in the 3A singles tennis semifinals Thursday.  He used his experience to his advantage, defeating York's Josh McFadden in straight sets to advance.

He then faced Western Albemarle's Tucker Ottoway, and Ducker did it again winning 6-0, 6-2 adding another state gold medal to his collection.

"It's really hard to bounce back after winning one state championship trying to get another in there.  But, even with all the injuries I had during the year, it feels pretty good.  It feels better than the last one," said Ducker.

In the 4A boys singles semifinals, E.C. Glass' Trent Daly turned up the heat in the third set to secure a place in the final.  He could not get past Handley's Parker Wilson and would finish state runner-up.

On the girls side, Fallon Delp from Cave Spring and Gaby Tersigni had a heated three set match, Delp coming out victorious.  She met Tyler Blalock in the 3A girls singles final but was unable to close it out, going home with silver.

VHSL state tennis continues Friday and Saturday with doubles and team matches.
