FRANKLIN COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Franklin County building trades students are using their talents and skills to make a difference for a six-year-old now learning to walk.

The students made a bridge for Karen Sutphin and her granddaughter, Keylie.  Keylie was born with Angelman Syndrom.

At six she still uses a bottle and pacifier and can't walk on her own.

Karen enlisted the help of the building trades teacher, Bruce Broadstreet.

"Everybody wanted to do something. I had to delegate okay you put this screw in and you put this screw in, because everybody wanted to be a part of the project itself," explained Broadstreet.

"I want to say ‘thank you very much,' because it is a big deal around here, real big deal," Sutphin said.

The small bridge is helping Keylie learn to step up and step down, but as her grandma explains, take steps to a brighter future.
