ROANOKE (WSLS 10) Two more Cave Spring stars are moving on to compete at the college level.  Sydney McTigue was a star defender and team captain for the Knights Volleyball team. She had an exceptional serve percentage as well. Coach Tamlyn Tanis explained that McTigue's work ethic--coming to do the work with no expectations--paid dividends for her down the road. McTigue is headed to Bridgewater.

"We had a goal in mind to go to states, staring in August we had that in mind. so we were working every day to get there. I guess just having a goal in mind, you're ready to work as hard as you can to get there, so I think that's what my mindset was,"explains McTigue.

Meanwhile Cave Spring basketball standout Cager Hicks will be attending the Citadel as an invited walk-on.   Former VMI now Citadel coach Duggar Baucom was familiar with Hicks and when he took the job, the two got together and the rest is history. Hicks credits the program for all the support he's received.

"My extended family which is a basketball team which includes coaches and players which I've looked up to which are the same age as me, I can't thank them enough. As far as student body and teachers go, I've had their support for the last 4 years and it's been unwavering," said Hicks.
