ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Glenvar High School seniors are leaving their mark on the school, breaking tradition for a good cause.
Wednesday, students held their annual field day, but turned it into a fundraiser in honor of Michael Sandridge. Sandridge would have graduated this year, but lost his battle with cancer in 2013.

Glenvar students could buy lunch from the seniors today and help raise money for a plaque in Michael's honor.
"Other schools are close, but at Glenvar it's something special here at least to us, so I figured we'd donate some money right before we all go out and go off to college, it'd be a good way to give back to Michael for all he's given to us," explained senior, Tyler Smith.
Seniors were hoping to raise $300 to put the plaque in front a tree planted near the football field after Michael passed.
