MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - Solid Stone Fabrics announced a restructuring and relocation of its manufacturing and office facilities to a location on Walker Road.

The company will locate in what is called the Jacquard building located on the 53-acre industrial campus that also houses the former corporate offices of Bassett-Walker. The campus is located along the Smith River near the intersection of Rives Road and U.S. 220. The move is scheduled to begin June 1 and will take place over several months.

The recently renovated space will be leased by Solid Stone from Resurgence Properties, LLC. Solid Stone currently operates out of two former retail locations in Uptown Martinsville, one on Fayette Street and the other on East Church Street. The move into the 81,000-plus square-foot building on the site of the former Bassett-Walker, and later VF Corporation manufacturing facilities, marks another return of textiles to the site.

Using a process known as sublimation, Solid Stone embellishes fabrics with custom images for everything from flags to dance costumes. The company started in Stone's home in 2003 and currently has 35 employees. Stone says business is good.

The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) consulted with Stone on the relocated expansion.
