(Radford/WSLS)-Radford baseball continues to reach new heights. After breaking into the national rankings for the first time in program history last week, they complete a series sweep, to win their 29th game in 34 tries.  Rising win totals and rising in the polls tend to go hand in hand.

The next challenge will be to close out the Big South regular season and earn the number one seed in the conference tournament.  The Highlanders magic number to clinch the top seed and at least a share of it's first ever Big South crown--is two. They hold a one game lead over Coastal Carolina moving into the final week.
And having national recognition..certainly doesn't hurt the process.

"We paid a lot of attention to that, we were focused more on RPI, the kind of guideline to get you into the top twenty-five rankings, once we cracked the top 25 it's pretty cool. It's late in the season, we know we aren't going to shoot down any more than that, but it was nice to crack the top 25," explains senior Highlanders catcher Josh Reavis.

"I think in the Mid-Atlantic and the people in the Big South community, or in the mid-major in the east coast, knew what Radford baseball was doing, but I think from a national recognition standpoint Radford baseball has now become you know, somebody that they can recognize just based on our performance so far, " says Radford Head Coach Joe Raccuia.

Radford opens a three game series at UNC-Asheville this Thursday at 6pm..
