WYTHE CO. (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police have changed course on who caused a crash that killed three people in Wythe County Sunday around 2:30 p.m. 

It was originally believed the driver of an FJ Cruiser traveling northbound crossed over the median of I-77 and hit a southbound Chevrolet Camaro, sparking fire on both vehicles.

Monday evening, VSP released new information about the investigation. 

VSP said the investigating trooper spent Monday reviewing witness accounts and crash reconstruction data. After the review, the trooper determined the 1994 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling north on I-77 when it crossed through the median and struck the 2007 FJ Cruiser, which was traveling south on I-77. 

A 2007 Toyota Camry was traveling south and was unable to avoid running into the crashed vehicles.

The driver of the FJ Cruiser, Anthony J. Asbury, 45 of Wytheville, was taken to Wythe Community Hospital, where he later died.

The woman driving the Camaro, Shan B. Martens, 28, of Bassett, and her passenger, 9-month-old Bria S. Hensley, were both transported to Wythe Community Hospital, where they pronounced dead. 

The driver of the Camry, Peter InterDonato, 66, of Ripley, W.Va., and passenger, Beverly InterDonato, 61, of Ripley, W.Va., suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported to Wythe Community Hospital for treatment. 

The crash remained under investigation.Â
