Police responded to the scene and attempted to make contact with the home's occupants. No one responded so officers created a perimeter and treated the incident as a possible barricaded subject.

A rescue team was formed to make entry into the residence to determine if anyone needed medical treatment. Entry was made just before 1:45 p.m. Officers found 59-year-old Audrey Virginia Long 64-year-old Walter Macleatus Mills dead inside the home.

The Mills was believed to be the 911 caller.

Due to the proximity of Tranquility Via to Christiansburg High School, Montgomery County Public Schools was notified of the situation and the high school was briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution.

The investigation is ongoing. Names will not be released until next-of-kin are notified.
