FRANKLIN CO. (WSLS10) – Two starving horses were seized by the Franklin County Animal Control from their owner Tuesday afternoon.

The two horses who are 15-years-old or more were found massively underweight with a skin condition known as rain rot from being out in the elements.

Both were taken to the Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue where they are being treated by a veterinarian.

According to the rescue, Gelding "one" is underweight by almost 300 lbs. Gelding "two" is underweight by almost 400 lbs. They were both given a body score of 2 on a 10 point scale. At this time this case is still under investigation.

They have been placed on a every 2 hour feeding at the RVHR. The investigation is ongoing.
