According to Roanoke City Police, officers had to call for additional help to break up the fights. Police say when help arrived, the police captain noticed a man in the crowd with a handgun. Police say they drew their service weapons demanding the man drop his weapon.

That man was later identified as 26-year-old Malik Roman of Roanoke.

According to reports, the man turned toward the officers and then one sergeant fired one shot at the gunman.

The suspect was not hit, and dropped his weapon. No one was injured as a result of the shot fired.

Police say Roman was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Roman was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of any injuries he may have sustained during the brawl at Stefano's. According to police, Roman was interviewed after the incident and admitted to being in a fight, then retrieving a handgun from a vehicle in the parking lot after the fight.
