Danville police investigating deadly house fire as a homicide

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) – A weekend house fire in Danville is now being investigated as a homicide, according to police and fire officials. 

The Danville Fire Department says at approximately 3:53 p.m. Sunday, March 15 they responded to reports of a fire in the 100 block of Wood Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered an unresponsive adult inside the home. According to police, rescue crews discovered trauma on the body suggesting the cause of death was homicide. 

The fire was reported under control around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. 
Police say the body will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for an autopsy and to identify the victim.
