Fire at Roanoke home causes $15K in damages

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The cause of a house fire in Roanoke Tuesday evening has been ruled as electrical, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS. 

The fire happened at approximately 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at a home along the 2900 block of Forest Hill Avenue.

Fire officials say upon arrival they found smoke coming from the eaves of the attic and heavy smoke conditions inside. A fire was found in a bedroom and was extinguished. 

Five people escaped without injuries. Fire officials say the cause was ruled electrical and appeared to be from an overheated extension cord. 

Damages estimates are approximately $15,000.
