Roanoke Police investigate suspicious dumpster fires

ROANOKE (WSLS 10)  The Roanoke Police Department is investigating several small, intentionally set fires in southeast. The dates, times and locations of the fires are below:

- March 4th at 12:46 a.m. trash can fire found in the alley behind the 1000 block 9th Street SE.

- Marth 6th at 11:20 p.m. Officers found two fires.  Both were in trash cans in the alley behind the 700 block of Bullitt Avenue SE.

- Marth 6th at 11:27 p.m. dumpster fire in the 800 block of Jamison Avenue SE.

Police say they are not aware of any injuries as a result of these fires. All of the fires were extinguished by Roanoke Fire EMS. None of the fires involved any significant damage to property. Officers have increased patrols in the area. The causes of the fires are under investigation.

Citizens should be aware of this activity and call 911 if they see anything suspicious. Anyone with information that can help investigators is encouraged to call the Roanoke Valley Crime Line at 540-344-8500. Tips are anonymous and rewards are offered for the right information.
