Bill Bullins is with Henry County school administration.

He said having the surplus is vital because it will allow them to continue on going renovations as part of a 5 year renovation plan.

The money will replace the original boilers, water heaters, pipes throughout the school and eventually get air conditioning in the school gym.

"We struggle for funding to do renovations in our building so this is a real nice, getting the support from them to do what we needed to do at Bassett, " Bullins said.

Deputy County Administrator Dale Wagoner is glad board members are moving to make education a priority.

"We've done a lot with a little in the past and everyone has really been cooperative and working together and pleased that the board recognized there was an opportunity to give back," Wagoner.

County leaders say the money will be given out in March and school leaders say renovations are expected to start in the summer and wrap up before school starts in the fall.
