ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Kids will have a new place to stay starting on Tuesday at a new playground in Highland Park.

Roanoke city and school leaders cut the ribbon for the playground which is a collaborative effort between parks and recreation and the school system.

It will benefit students at Highland Park Elementary and children in the neighborhood.

"It is for the community as well as for our students for their enjoyment and their exercise to be outside and have some physical activity," says Steve Barnett, assistant superintendent for operations.

A spokesperson for Roanoke Parks and Recreation says the cost is estimated at $80,000.
