Part time workers include those in the front offices to custodians.

The school spokesperson tells WSLS 10 the college is having to slash about $200,000 from part time hours changing the budget $1.6 million to $1.4 million.

This comes as Virginia Western is losing about 2.2 percent of its state budget.

Taking a look at money over the years in 2008 the community college got 59-percent of it's budget from the general fund. This year only about 37-percent of the total operating budget comes from the Commonwealth.

VWCC had to make the money up from additional resources like grants or raising tuition.

The college says the cuts won't be to classes or faculty and students shouldn't notice the change.
