AMHERST, Va. (AP) - Amherst County officials want state officials to designate U.S. 60 as a Virginia scenic byway.

) reports that the Board of Supervisors has authorized informing the Commonwealth Transportation Board that the county supports the designation for the highway.
In 2000, Congress designated a 180-mile section of U.S. 60 in West Virginia as the Midland Trail National Scenic Byway.Â
The Amherst County board approved a resolution in 2013 supporting extending the national byway designation to the highway in Virginia.Â
