ROANOKE (WSLS) The community, once again, rallies support around Dan and Gil Harrington, the parents of murdered Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington.
For the third year running the Docs for Morgan basketball game brought out hundreds of fans to watch doctors and med students battle it out on the court.
Dr. Dan and Gil Harrington talked about the developments in their daughter’s murder.
Since last year’s event they have some peace with the fact a man, linked to Morgan’s case, is now behind bars.
“I do feel, less burdened, maybe this year than I have in past years,” said Dan Harrington. “We don’t know what we’re facing, but we’re facing a different chapter going forward and we know the person we think killed Morgan is off the streets and that’s important to us.”
The money raised at tonight’s event goes toward two scholarships in Morgan’s name at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute.
