LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) – The Blue Angels will be back in Lynchburg for the first time since 2011.
According to the Navy, budget cuts forced the daredevil pilots to cancel shows in 2013.
Lynchburg corporation’s marketing director says they are in talks with the Blue Angels regarding regional locations other than Lynchburg to host the event.
The airshow will be held on May 21 and 22 of 2016.
The Lynchburg Regional Airshow Corporation released this statement on Tuesday.
“The Lynchburg Regional Airshow’s selection as a 2016 Blue Angels location is a testament to the professionalism and outstanding support our volunteers provided them in 2011 as well as the warm reception they received from attendees. We are in discussions with the Blue Angels regarding regional locations other than Lynchburg to host the May 21st-22nd 2016 Airshow that we think may appeal to a broader audience.”
