Giles County community rallies support around “Mommy’s Last Wish”

Narrows (WSLS) – The Giles County community is making a difference putting in hours of work on a house for a young mother battling cancer.

Sherry Shelton started “Mommy’s Last Wish” to help Jessica McCroskey who’s fighting a rare form of cervical cancer.

The McCroskey family moved back to Giles to their investment property after Jessica’s diagnosis to be closer to family.

Once thinking they would have years to complete the home they’re now fighting time.

“She is living in this house the way it is and the community has been amazing they have been wonderful,” said Shelton.

“Overwhelming and shocking, there’s been a few times I take a random stroll, tears start falling because I don’t like anybody see me crying, so it’s been very overwhelming.  I have no problem going and helping, it’s a little different being on the receiving side of the situation,” Joe McCroskey said.

Dozens of organizations and contractors have donated their time and supplies to help “Mommy’s Last Wish” become a reality.
