Community connection is important to New Pulaski Yankees General Manager

PULASKI (WSLS) - Touring Calfee Park with Pulaski Yankees General Manager, Mike Fintel, is a time to relive memories for Fintel who grew up coming to baseball games at the park as a child.

"I grew up here. I spent my summers on Claytor Lake. I was hunting in the fields and I attended Calfee Park baseball games when I was a kid. This has huge meaning for me and has huge meaning for my family and I know it does for the community as well."

That community support is echoed by Ronnie Eversole who stopped by to see how the field renovations are going. Eversole explained, "It's nice to see them renovate it and make it nice to where we can keep a team here. If it hadn't been for that we wouldn't have had any more baseball here.  It helps everything. I am sure we will draw a big crowd out here since we have the Yankees. That is a good organization and a lot of people in Pulaski love their baseball. I can't wait."

That kind of excitement is what motivates Fintel to work long days looking over details and plans to upgrade the press box, concession stands, club houses and stands. A new hotel will also be built with a restaurant near downtown. The team will be housed there during the season.

Fintel says, "It is a family friendly park. We want the town of Pulaski to know that they can bring their entire family here, have a great time, not break the bank and enjoy this beautiful scenery that pulaski has to offer.  This park is going to be a destination for the town of Pulaski and for the surrounding communities."

His parents Connie and Dr. Bill Fintel live in Pulaski and couldn't be happier about Mike's new position.
