BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS) - Layman Farms has some new additions and additional safety measures this season.

In October 2013, a hayride accident sent three people to the hospital. The farm now has fences lining the tractor beds, and blocks put down to keep the tractor steady as passengers get off.

The owner told us he's also held presentations for other farmers to prevent another incident. He says visitors' safety are important especially since many of them have been coming back for years.

"Seeing the kids faces and just entire families and generations my favorite thing about it is before I did this I didn't have a lot of people thank me for farming and now I do," says Eric Layman. "It means a lot."

The farm also has several new additions this year including an anti-bullying path, a barnyard ball zone, and an antique tractor on display.

This season about 6,000 students are expected to be at the farm which is more than last year.Â
