ROANOKE (WSLS) - Cara Holley was just 18-years-old when she went missing and was later found brutally murdered by a classmate in July of 2010. Her mother Lisa Cowling is now using her daughter's legacy to help other families.

Lisa Cowling said there's only a few things she can do to keep herself from crying after her daughter Cara was murdered.

, it gives her hope.

"I've met a lot of the mothers and that's part of the force that drives me too," Lisa Cowling said. "I want their children brought back to them one one way or another."

Cowling said she has her daughter's body and even knows who killed her, but in a way she still feels like cara is missing too.

"People say you get closure, but when you lose a child there's never closure," Cowling said

She said the community needs to remember that every missing person is someone's child.

"The first thing I say to myself is what would Cara do? I know what Cara would do. She would want me to help these families. She would want me to bring the missing back to these families," Cowling said.
