CHARLOTTESVILLE (WSLS) - Charlottesville police are looking into new, vital information about Jesse Matthew, the key suspect in the disappearance of missing UVa student Hannah Graham.

Police say they're learning more about his whereabouts between the time Graham was last seen, just before 2 a.m. September 13, 2014 and when the search began the next day.

Investigators are using the information to narrow the time gap and refocus their search.

"I think the more we gather, with respect to investigate leads, the more sense, the more ideas we get as to when we believe that time period that becomes most relevant took place. And how much time we are dealing with between her disappearance and where that need to search would have otherwise began," said Chief Timothy Longo.

Police haven't said what that new information is, but have said it suggests Graham is in Virginia and there's no reason to believe she ever left.

MORE ON THE SEARCH FOR HANNAH GRAHAM

As we've reported, Matthew drove to Galveston, Texas before his arrest last month. The vehicle Matthew was last seen driving, his sister's blue Nissan Sentra, is still in a wrecking yard down the street from the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.

Inside the vehicle is a glimpse of Matthew's final days on the run. There's an ashtray filled with cigarettes and a business card for a Charlottesville detective in the back seat. In the front, there's a yellow envelope with a cross inside. Across the front it reads, "Open this envelope before you read my letter, enclosed are three powerful faith tools to release God's power."

Police said they also found a cassette tape with "Jesus" written on the front. There is no indication that Graham was ever inside this particular vehicle. Just five days before Matthew's arrest, Charlottesville police seized another car Matthew was driving after surveillance video showed the two of them together. Police believe Graham got inside.Â
