The plan, if approved by the City Council, is to move the flag inside to be a part of an exhibit of the history of the Confederate Flag.

"We feel the exhibit within the museum that talks about different types of confederate flags and their history and we all have different interesting stories is a better way to interpret history," Cara Burton the Executive Director of Danville Museum of Fine Arts said.

Danville is considered the "last capital" of the Confederacy because it was home to the full Confederate government before it fell.
