Hokies lose Running Back McKenzie for the season (Torn ACL)

Blacksburg, Va. (WSLS)  - Half of Virginia Techs dynamic duo of running backs has been sidelined for the year.

Freshman running back Shai McKenzie tore his right ACL Saturday against Western Michigan.

McKenzie, who has had trouble with the same knee in high school, will miss the rest of the 2014 Hokies football season as well as spring practice.

In a statement from Virginia Techs Athletic Department released around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, they said "Team doctors will let the swelling in the knee subside before operating in October."

McKenzie had three touchdowns in just five games this year, rushing 53 times for 269 yards.
