Andrew Lewis Middle Schooler to model for Cure by Design

Roanoke (WSLS) – The 2nd annual Cure by Design event is Friday, September 26th at The Hotel Roanoke.

It’s a fashion show designed to raise money for the American Cancer Society and the models who will strut their stuff on the catwalk are cancer survivors.

We introduce you to one of the youngest models.

His name is Dylan Smith and he was diagnosed with brain cancer in the 1st grade.

Now, he’s in the 6th grade and will soon mentor other children facing a cancer diagnosis.

Dylan explains his message.

“To never give up and always have faith even though like it’s a tough time, just always keep your head up and never back down.”

“It’s made him humble and he’s genuinely a good person, because he knows how much life really means to him,” explained Kevin Smith, Dylan’s dad.

Dylan has already picked out his outfit for Friday’s event and he’ll walk out on stage to Pharrell’s “Happy.”
