ROANOKE (WSLS) - If you saw an unusual aircraft over the Roanoke Valley skies Monday, that was an old World War II B-17 bomber that has made its way to the area for the week.
It is called the Memphis Belle, and it is in town celebrating the 71st anniversary of its last historic mission in the second world war. Several former B-17 crew members from Roanoke got the chance to take a ride on the aircraft.
