The company has been at its current building, which is 147,000 sq. feet, for 43 years. Allstate wants to build a smaller but more modern facility which will be 70,000 sq. feet by Interstate 81.

An Allstate representative issued the following statement:

Allstate's decision to move our offices in Roanoke when the lease expires in December, 2015 is a reflection of our current office space needs. We are planning to lease two facilities in the Roanoke area, including an existing property in the area as well as a newly constructed building. We are in the process of finalizing the plans.

The company has made several cuts to its departments. No word yet on if more layoffs will be made.
